Pattie Maes and Pranav Mistry demo SixthSense
Maiden post of this blog, so thought I will post up something interesting. Saw this TED video during one of my psychology classes in the early part of 2009 and WOW!! It is like those futuristic devices we see in the movies and it is really exciting to see it come to pass perhaps in the next couple of years, months or even days.
No doubt the internet will be a crucial component in governing our "Sixth Sense". Like by scanning a product,we can be connected to the internet and get information of the nutrient value or if it is a healthier choice alternative. Information will be much more acessible and available then ever before.
Indeed, the world of Internet has come a long way from being part of a security procedure during warfare to being a indispensible part of everyday life. Looking at "Sixth Sense", it seems that the usage of internet and technology will definitely continue to expand in future too.
True that the Internet can influence us and the society that we live in. However, we should also take note of how we humans also influence the Internet. Like who are these people who manages the information on the Internet? Who decides what should or should not be posted online? If power is only concentrated on a small group of people, would that mean that information/news on the Internet is not as extensive as we think it is but rather it is limited.
