Multimedia. What is multimedia? "Multimedia is media and content that uses a combination of different content forms. The term can be used as a noun (a medium with multiple content forms) or as an adjective describing a medium as having multiple content forms. The term is used in contrast to media which only use traditional forms of printed or hand-produced material. Multimedia includes a combination of text, audio, still images, animation, video, and interactivity content forms. Multimedia is usually recorded and played, displayed or accessed by information content processing devices, such as computerized and electronic devices, but can also be part of a live performance." Multimedia is not limited to usage in advertising, engineering, scientific research.. IT IS EVERYWHERE! and we use it everyday. Some high multimedia usage devices would be our cell phones and laptops. Multimedia devices has come a long way and I will be introducing to you something cool. It is none other than Apple's I-Pad. I feel that the philosophy behind the I-Pad is indeed revolutionizing or maybe it have already revolutionize how we see and use the internet us. Concurrently, the internet is constantly shaping how we use multimedia. Especially with the usage of internet growing exponentially(World Internet Usage Statistics), the impact is beyond our wildest thoughts. It is simply dynamic! Check this out.  "I don't have to change myself to fit the product. It fits me. " "It's completely natural.I don't even have to think about it. I just.. DO." That is the philosophy of IPad. and I feel that that is where the future of multimedia lies... Product customization. In addition, the I-Pad is able to download different Apps for practically everything. Be it shopping carts, checking product labels, music, games, maps, movie review. You name it, they got it! Everything is within a click. As of 20th March 2010, there are an estimate of 150,000 apps available and 3,000, 000, 000 downloads !!!! Indeed, this app craze has created a whole new industry and new jobs for people... Perhaps it even have shape how information is gathered, how data transmitted, how we as humans communicate with one another. Everything is readily available within seconds. See how the multimedia and the Internet can change lives? Sometimes I do think how scary that technology move so fast, which directly or indirectly changes the speed of our "lives".
